LEGOLAND / 1975

LEGOLAND - Blue Torso, Blue Legs, Blue Hat

MinifiguresOfficial LEGO

This all-blue LEGOLAND figure is almost minimalist sculpture. There is no detailed uniform print, emotional expression, or articulated pose to tell us who the person is; identity comes from monochrome clothing, headwear, context, and whatever story the builder supplies. Figures like this populated LEGO towns before 1978 and reveal that the company’s system of human representation evolved in stages. First came scale and presence: a recognizable person could sit near a building or vehicle. Only later came performance: hands could grip, legs could walk, heads could turn, and faces could communicate. In that sense, this rigid blue citizen is not a crude minifigure—it is one of the steps that made minifigures possible.
