Paleontologist

The Series 13 Paleontologist represents science not through a laboratory but through fieldwork: practical clothes, fossil evidence, and the patient reconstruction of life from deep time. Released in 2015, the figure arrived during a period when LEGO was increasingly putting scientists and specialist professions into Collectible Minifigures as characters worthy of play in their own right. Paleontology is especially well matched to LEGO because both activities involve assembling meaning from separated pieces. A fossil fragment does not look like a dinosaur until knowledge connects it to the larger structure—much as a pile of elements becomes a model only through interpretation and reconstruction.
