Tactical Tennis Player

The Tactical Tennis Player is part athlete, part LEGO joke. Her absurdly serious title turns a familiar racket sport into something that sounds like a military operation, while the Union-themed Team GB styling roots the figure firmly in the London 2012 Olympic celebration. The nine-figure Team GB series was unusual because it was regionally focused and attached to a real sporting event rather than an evergreen LEGO theme. As a museum object, this minifigure captures both Olympic optimism and LEGO’s habit of giving ordinary human activities just enough comic exaggeration to feel at home beside space explorers and monsters.
