C-3PO is deceptively difficult to translate into a minifigure because the film costume is covered in exposed mechanisms and famously includes mismatched leg plating. This modern version addresses details earlier figures often simplified, adding printed arms and a molded light-bluish-gray lower-leg section to represent the protocol droid's asymmetry. The improvement is subtle, but that is exactly what makes it valuable in a museum: generations of C-3PO figures show the steady increase in what LEGO printing and molding can communicate. The character remains unmistakably C-3PO even as the representation becomes more technically precise.
