Lord Business

Lord Business is what happens when the instinct to organize LEGO becomes authoritarian. In The LEGO Movie, he is president of a perfectly ordered world and secretly plans to freeze that world permanently with the Kragle, turning building into display and creativity into compliance. His towering red-and-black costume exaggerates an ordinary business executive into a toy-scale dictator, which is exactly the joke. As a LEGO character, he is wonderfully self-critical: the villain represents one legitimate way people enjoy LEGO—careful perfection—pushed until nothing can ever be changed again. His defeat makes the film’s argument clear: the system matters because it can always be rebuilt.
