Max Dennison

Max Dennison is the teenager whose skepticism accidentally begins the entire Hocus Pocus disaster. New to Salem and dismissive of the town’s witch legends, he lights the Black Flame Candle and turns folklore into a very immediate problem. His arc is appropriately simple for a Halloween adventure: embarrassment and disbelief give way to responsibility, especially toward his younger sister Dani. LEGO’s Ideas treatment is historically interesting because the 1993 film’s afterlife far exceeded its initial reception. By the time the set appeared, Hocus Pocus had become a seasonal staple. Max’s minifigure captures a character whose cultural longevity was created not by a blockbuster opening, but by decades of repeated family viewing.
