Castle / 1987
Breastplate - Red with Blue Arms, Red Legs with Black Hips, Dark Gray Neck-Protector
By 1987, LEGO Castle figures had become physically more armored than their Yellow Castle ancestors. This knight’s separate breastplate and neck-protector add real three-dimensional equipment around the standard torso, making armor something worn rather than merely suggested by color or print. That change matters because it foreshadows a major direction in minifigure design: specialized accessories increasingly transform the same basic body into professions, creatures, soldiers, and fantasy archetypes. The red-and-blue color scheme still carries the bright visual clarity of classic LEGO, but the silhouette is more martial and more specific. Castle was growing from a medieval suggestion into a deeply equipped world of factions and warriors.
