Buzz Lightyear - Minifigure Head

Buzz Lightyear began as a joke about the confidence of a brand-new toy who does not realize he is a toy. By Toy Story 4, that certainty has become loyalty, friendship, and a hilariously literal relationship with his ‘inner voice.’ This 2019 version is particularly interesting because LEGO renders Buzz with a minifigure-style head rather than treating him only as a fully specialized action-figure shape. His space ranger armor still pushes the body far beyond ordinary clothing, but the familiar face geometry makes him feel more integrated into LEGO’s own character system. Buzz is thus a toy translated into another toy—fictional plastic becoming real plastic through a second design language.
