Fred Flintstone

Fred Flintstone brought one of television animation's most recognizable suburban fathers into LEGO through the Ideas program, where fan concepts can earn the chance to become official sets. The Flintstones is itself a playful collision of eras—mid-century family sitcom life transplanted into a prehistoric world of stone appliances and dinosaur technology—so it fits LEGO's visual humor unusually well. Fred's orange tunic, blue necktie, and heavy black hair reduce the character to the graphic ingredients audiences have recognized since 1960. He is also a reminder that adult nostalgia became an important part of LEGO Ideas' cultural reach.
