Cardboard Robot

Cardboard Robot looks futuristic until you notice the joke: this is not a robot at all, but a person wearing a homemade costume. The boxy armor evokes the childhood tradition of turning shipping cartons, foil, and imagination into science fiction. LEGO is especially well suited to that idea because its own play pattern works the same way—ordinary shapes are reinterpreted as machines, vehicles, buildings, or characters. The figure celebrates pretend technology rather than actual technology, making it a charming miniature tribute to the kind of low-budget invention that often happens beside a pile of bricks.
