Rob the Fan Designer - Red Plaid Flannel Shirt, Light Bluish Gray Legs

Rob the Fan Designer may be the most self-aware figure in the LEGO Ideas Minifigure Vending Machine. Rather than depicting a pirate, knight, athlete, or licensed character, the minifigure represents the kind of person whose imagination can now become part of an official LEGO product. The red plaid shirt and ordinary clothes emphasize that point: fan designers are not fictional heroes but members of the community. Ideas transformed the relationship between builder and manufacturer by giving public proposals a pathway to production, and this character makes that process visible inside the set itself. It is a miniature tribute to the people on the other side of the instruction booklet.
