Classic Police Officer

This 2018 Classic Police Officer is a deliberate time capsule. Created for the minifigure's 40th anniversary, he recreates the look of the earliest late-1970s Town police with the white cap, black uniform, simple badge treatment, and uncomplicated smile. In a series otherwise filled with party costumes and eccentric characters, his restraint is the tribute. Place him beside an original 1979 officer and the continuity is remarkable: the proportions that LEGO settled on four decades earlier still work. He celebrates not reinvention, but the astonishing durability of the original minifigure design.
