Bogeyman

The Bogeyman gives physical form to a creature that traditionally has no fixed appearance. Across cultures, the 'bogeyman' is less a specific monster than a name for whatever unseen thing frightens children in the dark. That makes LEGO's design challenge especially interesting: it must invent a visual identity for an idea defined by ambiguity. The result turns childhood fear into theatrical fantasy, exactly the sort of transformation toys are good at. Once the monster under the bed becomes a minifigure you can hold, pose, disassemble, and rebuild, it becomes a little less mysterious.
