Dark Trooper

The Dark Trooper from The Mandalorian revives an idea with roots in older Star Wars games: an Imperial-style soldier that is not a person in armor but a combat droid built to overwhelm opponents. LEGO emphasizes that distinction through a glossy black mechanical body, angular helmet, and more robotic proportions than a normal stormtrooper. The character is a good example of Star Wars continually recycling and reinventing concepts across media, and of LEGO following those migrations. An idea that once lived mainly in 1990s game culture returned to mainstream television—and then to the minifigure shelf.
