Astronaut - Female, White Spacesuit with Dark Azure Arms, Dark Azure Helmet, Trans-Clear Visor, Dark Azure Jet Pack, Hearing Aid

This 2024 astronaut is notable for a detail unrelated to rockets: a visible hearing aid. LEGO increasingly integrates disability into ordinary character design rather than isolating it as the figure’s entire identity, and here that representation belongs to someone equipped for space exploration. The dark-azure mission gear, helmet, visor, and jet pack establish the occupation first; the hearing aid is simply part of the person inside the suit. That quiet normalization is powerful precisely because it is not treated as exceptional. In a collection spanning decades, the figure also records how LEGO’s definition of who can inhabit its imagined futures has broadened. Space belongs to more kinds of people now.
