Crusader Lion - Red Legs with Black Hips, Dark Gray Chin-Guard, Blue Plastic Cape

The Lion Knights—often called Crusaders by collectors—helped transform LEGO Castle from a generic medieval setting into a world of recognizable factions. This figure's lion heraldry, armor, chin guard, and blue cape communicate allegiance and status at a glance. That was a major evolution from the color-coded knights of the first Yellow Castle. By the late 1980s and early 1990s, children could build conflicts between groups with distinct symbols and visual identities. The seeds of modern LEGO lore are here: not yet a scripted saga, but no longer a completely anonymous medieval sandbox.
