Atlantis Diver 1 - Axel

Atlantis arrived in 2010 with one of LEGO’s most aggressively specialized diving suits. Axel’s oversized helmet, air tanks, transparent visor, flippers, and bright lime accents turn a standard minifigure into something halfway between scuba diver and science-fiction explorer. That hybrid suited the theme perfectly: the heroes were not merely swimming underwater but descending into ruins guarded by fantastical sea creatures. Atlantis is a useful snapshot of an era when LEGO original themes were becoming heavily story-driven, with named teams, collectible keys, vehicles, monsters, and serialized conflict. Axel’s equipment demonstrates how molded accessories could create a whole new silhouette while leaving the minifigure underneath completely compatible with the System.
