Oscar Martinez

Oscar Martinez often functions as one of Dunder Mifflin’s few reliably competent adults, which makes the chaos around him even funnier. An accountant with a dry corrective streak, he frequently becomes the person forced to explain facts that his coworkers confidently misunderstand. His character also became important to the series’ representation as one of network television comedy’s prominent gay Latino characters of the era, though the show’s treatment was filtered through its deliberately uncomfortable mockumentary style. In LEGO form, Oscar is part of an ensemble where no superhero costume or fantasy weapon is needed. Recognition comes from the shared cultural memory of an ordinary office populated by very specific personalities.
