Laval - Light Armor, Cape

Laval was the heroic lion at the center of Legends of Chima, LEGO’s ambitious 2013 animal-fantasy world built around tribes competing over the energy source known as CHI. His molded lion head, armor, cape, and humanoid body show how the minifigure platform can absorb anthropomorphic character design without abandoning compatibility. Chima arrived in the period after NINJAGO had demonstrated the power of serialized original storytelling, and it similarly combined television, vehicles, factions, collectible powers, and named heroes. Laval is therefore more than a lion warrior. He represents LEGO experimenting with whether a richly branded original mythology could become a long-term multimedia universe alongside its rapidly growing licensed portfolio.
