Classic - Yellow Castle Knight Black

The black Yellow Castle knight is an early example of how a simple color change can suggest an entirely different character before LEGO supplied formal faction identities. In 1978, the modern minifigure itself was new, and Castle had not yet developed the Black Falcons, Lion Knights, Forestmen, or other heraldic families collectors now use as historical landmarks. The figure therefore belongs to a more open-ended phase of LEGO storytelling. Black clothing can make this knight look more imposing than the blue or white versions, but nothing in the toy forces a role. Hero, rival, guard, champion, or villain remained in the builder’s hands—a freedom central to early minifigure play.
