Garp

Monkey D. Garp embodies one of One Piece’s favorite contradictions: a legendary Marine hero whose own family keeps producing revolutionaries and pirates. He is Luffy’s grandfather, Dragon’s father, a formidable fighter, and a man whose loyalty to the Marines is constantly complicated by personal bonds. LEGO’s 2025 One Piece line translates the live-action adaptation into minifigures, making Garp especially interesting because his authority comes less from ornate costume than from reputation. In a collection, he represents the institutional side of the world Luffy rejects—and the fact that family, justice, and allegiance in One Piece never fit into clean categories.
